Sobre la app
StepStone is a globally accessible, professional job platform and career tool designed to serve job seekers, including older youth and young adults aged 17–18, as they transition into the workforce. Available globally on iOS and Android platforms, its primary function is to modernize and streamline the process of discovering and applying for employment opportunities. As a technology-driven platform, it goes beyond a simple job board by providing personalized career development resources and facilitating efficient matching between candidates and employers. For young users and their parents, StepStone offers a structured entry point into the professional world. Users can register for a 'MyStepStone' account to gain access to a full suite of features, including the ability to create a detailed 'User Profile' with all essential employment information, such as their CV/resume, work history, and educational background. The platform’s advanced tools include a 'Job Agent,' which sends notifications for suitable vacancies based on the user’s preferences and profile data. The ability to apply for some jobs without creating a full account provides flexibility, while account registration unlocks key features that make the job search more efficient. The platform is at the forefront of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the recruitment process. StepStone employs AI-based recommender systems as a central part of its global Autonomous Matching™ platform. These systems are designed to extract and analyze relevant information from both job descriptions and candidate CVs to evaluate the fit, thereby delivering a more efficient and higher-quality match. Furthermore, StepStone has incorporated conversational AI technology to engage with jobseekers, nurturing relationships and discovering precise preferences and interests conversationally (via chat or text message) to suggest suitable jobs even when a user is not actively searching. This focus on AI is aimed at enhancing user experience, but the StepStone Group also takes the associated risks seriously. They are actively engaged in testing their AI-supported recruitment systems for non-discrimination and bias, in collaboration with external partners, to ensure their algorithms comply with international standards like the EU AI Act and maintain fairness in the hiring process. From a safety and content perspective, StepStone operates as a low-risk professional tool focused on career management. The platform’s terms strictly prohibit user-generated content that is harassing, abusive, harmful to minors, illegal, or infringes on third-party rights. Core safety concerns are proactively managed by verifying the appropriateness of job listings and moderating communication between users and potential employers. Users should be aware that portions of their created profile information may be made visible to StepStone Clients (recruiters) for hiring consideration. Parents should also review the privacy practices, as the platform’s function inherently requires the collection of extensive user data, which is necessary for providing personalized services like the MyStepStone account and job agents. Collected data includes Identity, Contact, Employment, and Marketing/Communications Data. StepStone states that it does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information online from children under the age of 18, which is an important consideration for the younger end of its target audience. The platform confirms that it uses tracking technologies, and personal information may be shared with group companies and third-party partners (recruiters, agents, business partners) to facilitate the job search process, though general statistical information is often provided in an anonymous format. The platform’s adherence to privacy regulations and its proactive steps toward ethical AI use support its position as a serious and modern resource for young adults entering the professional world. StepStone should be reviewed in real family use before recommendation. Test first-session onboarding, age fit (17–18), data collection prompts, and monetization flows. Verify whether core tasks remain usable with limited connectivity, whether navigation is predictable for children, and whether adult controls are easy to find. Keep short supervised sessions and document where children need support. Re-check links and policy pages regularly because store listings and business models can change over time.
